Our History...

 

Burkey's Furniture and Carpeting has served the Tri-State Area for  75 years.

 

Located in LaVale, Maryland, at 900 National Highway, our 20,000+ square foot store features many of the top brands in America for residential and commercial use. Our team members have extensive product knowledge and experience.

 

Begun in 1947 by Ed and Mary Burkey, Burkeys' Furniture and Carpeting's first location was on North Centre Street in downtown Cumberland, Maryland.

 

In 1955, the business moved to the newly-expanding Cumberland suburb of LaVale.

 

Burkeys' Furniture and Carpeting relocated to 900 National Highway, LaVale, Maryland, where the store expanded in 1965 and again in 1975 to its current 20,000+ square feet.

 

The adjacent property was purchased in the 1980's for additional needed warehouse space and more parking spaces for the ever-growing business.

 

John Burkey took over the Management of the Family-owned and operated business in 1979 through 2018.  In 2019 Kathy Burkey became president of the company and will continue the family tradition of excellent customer service.

Our Team...

 

Our Store Manager  has over 30 years of experience and brings all that knowledge to help staff as well as customers. He now heads the group that provides excellent customer experiences.

 

Our Sales Team brings their enthusiasm and product knowledge that helps make them favorites with our customers.

 

Warehouse, Delivery and Furniture Repairs  are run by long-term employees. Together, they have over 50 years' experience bringing wonderful new purchases into your home.

 

Together, they all make it happen on a daily basis to keep our customers happy and provide excellent service to everyone they come in contact with.

Our store and staff support the community by giving time and talent or financial support to organizations like the Lions Club, United Way, UPMC Western Maryland, Allegany Arts Council, and more.
